| The word "Doula" is Greek for woman caregiver. A Doula provides continous physical and emotional support to a woman and her husband/partner/coach during her labor, delivery and immediate postpartum. Doulas bring a "mothering" kind of support and work with the other support people as a team to help the mother relax, focus and feel in control. Continuous support from a doula during labor provides physical and emotional benefits for mothers and health bonuses for their babies. |
